Data Protection (KVKK)

This information notice has been prepared under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 ("KVKK"). Legere Open Edu is an independent academic initiative that has not yet completed its legal entity formation; data controller responsibilities are assumed by the team managing the platform. This notice will be updated once a legal entity is established.

The following personal data is processed: identity information (full name), contact information (email address), educational information (university, department), digital identity information (Google account data, IP address), and platform usage data.

When signing in via Google OAuth, your name, email, and profile photo from your Google account are accessed. This data is used solely for authentication purposes.

Your personal data is processed for the following purposes: managing membership operations, evaluating and managing workshop applications, issuing certificates, ensuring platform security, and conducting communication activities.

Your identity and contact data is processed under KVKK Art. 5/2(c) on the legal ground of "establishment or performance of a contract"; technical data (IP address, browser information) is processed under KVKK Art. 5/2(f) on the legal ground of "legitimate interest." Additional data obtained through Google OAuth sign-in is processed based on your explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5/1).

Your personal data may be shared with service providers such as Google LLC (authentication, Classroom — US-based) and Microsoft Corporation (Teams — US-based) for the purpose of delivering platform services.

These transfers constitute cross-border data transfers. Under Article 9 of the KVKK, your explicit consent for these transfers is obtained upon your use of the platform. These companies provide data protection commitments under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Your personal data is retained for the duration required by the processing purpose. Upon termination of your membership, your data is deleted or anonymized within 1 year at the latest, subject to legal obligations and potential legal dispute periods.

Under Article 11 of the KVKK, you have the following rights: learning whether your personal data is processed, requesting information about the processing, learning the purpose of processing and whether it is used in accordance with its purpose, and knowing the third parties to whom your data is transferred domestically or abroad.

You also have the rights to: request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data, request deletion or destruction under the conditions of Article 7, request notification of corrections/deletions to third parties, object to results arising from automated analysis, and claim compensation for damages arising from unlawful processing.

To exercise your rights under the KVKK, you may submit a written application to info@legereopenedu.com. Your applications will be concluded free of charge within 30 days at the latest, depending on the nature of the request. If the process requires additional costs, fees determined by the Personal Data Protection Board may apply.
